Another rather nice 7” from Lovemonk, and this time it’s a garage funk band from Madrid who are making the noise. The Right Ons are a fantastic, party spirited collective who take their cues from Sly and the Family Stone, and early 70s pop soul.The A is their take on Lou Reed’s tale of his dealer – a banging little funker which has the obligatory Hammond groove alongside the energetic vox. A proper reinterpretation – smack never sounded that funky…
‘Hey Yeah’ is another uptempo, funk-break led stomper where the drummer’s truly given some. A bit more psych in the mix here, but undoubtedly one for the dancers!
